«I am Ang Dawa Sherpa, a scholar of Benoit Chamoux Foundation since 1998 through 2016. Himalayan Trust along the way played a pivotal role in order to assure the clear communication between the foundation and children. I will be forever in-debt for the infallible support they have provided.
Understanding as essence of this opportunity, I always tried to put myself beyond my own limitations. Different circumstances of life helped me realize the importance of self-discipline and right knowledge at right time. Practicing them was hardest yet the worthiest personal development trait I ever underwent. This helped me earn important entities of life such as indefatigable, leadership and mindful thinking.
As a result, it bestowed me national delegate title in several international conferences; become NASA internee, and GIS technician for national level project (Irrigation Master Plan Preparation through Integrated River Basin Approach).
Undoubtedly, there’s always involvement of technology in any field. Amidst those the GI (Geo-information Technology) is one of the important technologies of this century. However, in Nepal, GI technology is being used only to limit extent where lots could have done. I foresee that in the temperate region large scale agricultural scheme can be designed over those undulated plain areas having high potential for agriculture. New design can be drawn for river channels in order to make best use of river water for irrigation and hydroelectricity generation. Development plans in terms of catchment area can be promoted. New mountaineering trails in the alpine region can be designed. These trails will not only allow mountaineers to safely conquer the height reducing number of accidents but also promotes wildlife conservation.
These fruitful experiences and understandings at the young age helped me open the door to next great opportunity to pursue my master program in culturally rich and technically sound universities of Europe. My master program has a mobility of 0.5 years in Spain and 1 Year in German University, totally comprising a study period of 1. 5 years.
The scholarship regime of Erasmus Mundus+corresponds well with my inner belief that an urgency of 21st century demands extraordinary solution through application of cutting edge-technologies at a same time promoting the harmony, education and cultural exchange in international platform.
This day would not have been possible without those wonderful people having a true vision of making real differences in this world through standards of humanity, care and love.
(Ang Dawa did B. Sc in 2016. He was selected to represent Nepal for youth conference in various international forums. Govt. of Nepal employed him to work for Department of Irrigation as GIS technician for country’s Irrigation Master Plan. Got selected by European Commission in an international free scholarship competition to study M Sc in Geospatial Technologies in the University of Spain and Germany in August 2017)”.»
